Member Data Collection Policy

Specific activities of the Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (MCC-OGS) require users to provide contact information (such as their name, address, and email address). This information is only to contact website visitors and members regarding membership activities and organization events and announcements.

Communication Opt-Out

Anyone subscribed as a member of the Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (MCC-OGS) or as a general user may opt out at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions found at the bottom of any email from organization emails or sending an email to info@mcc-ogs.org.

The Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (MCC-OGS) DOES NOT and will NEVER sell member or website visitor information to any 3rd party.
 
Ohio Genealogical Society Information Sharing
As a chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (OGS), the Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (MCC-OGS) has specific obligations and responsibilities to the OGS to maintain their charter as outlined in the OGS Bylaws and Standing Rules. Specifically, OGS standing rule 11.E states what information is required to be submitted to OGS by 30 January of the current year.  This information includes:
  • a current list of all Chapter officers including mailing addresses and email.
  • the official mailing address and the email address of the Chapter.
  • the contact information for the Chapter’s webmaster
  • the names and addresses of current Chapter members, including email addresses.
As a condition of membership, each MCC-OGS member in good standing provides the MCC-OGS permission to share their name and contact information with the OGS in accordance with the OGS Bylaws and Standing Rules.
 
Any MCC-OGS member in good standing may request that the MCC-OGS NOT share their name and contact information with the OGS by sending this request in an email to info@mcc-ogs.org.

Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (MCC-OGS) Privacy Agreement

Upon using this website, users agree not to reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit for any commercial purposes, any portion of the site, use of the site, or access to the site. Users agree not to access the site by any means other than through the interface that is provided by the Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (MCC-OGS) for use in accessing the site.

Website/Browser Cookies

Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (MCC-OGS) Member Account Policy

In consideration of members’ use of the site, users agree to:

Provide true, accurate, current, and complete information as prompted by the registration form and maintain and promptly update the registration information to keep it true, accurate, current, and complete.

Members are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of passwords and registration and are fully responsible for all activities that occur under password and registration.

If a member provides any information that is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, or we have reasonable grounds to suspect that such information is untrue, inaccurate, not current or incomplete, we may suspend or terminate member registration.

Payment Methods

The Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (MCC-OGS) accepts payment for online orders, membership registration and membership renewal through PayPal. Please refer to PayPal’s Terms and Conditions and User Agreement.
 
The Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (MCC-OGS) will also accept checks, cash or money orders for transactions.

Members must provide their exact mailing, billing and email address and telephone number for proper online order and membership transaction processing.
 
Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (MCC-OGS) Lineage Society Application Privacy Policy
The Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (MCC-OGS) has two lineage societies, First Families of Montgomery County Ohio and Settlers and Builders of Montgomery County Ohio. 
 
Members of The Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (MCC-OGS) may apply to one of the lineage societies by submitting an application with supporting documentation and the appropriate application fee. The submitted application and accompanying documents become the property of The Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society.
 
Only current members of the Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (MCC-OGS) may receive information that is contained in a lineage society application and/or supporting documentation.
 
For Lineage Society Applications submitted less than 40 years prior to an information request:
 
The Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (MCC-OGS) will not divulge the contact information of any lineage society applicant unless written authorization has been obtained.  The policy of the Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (MCC-OGS) is to provide the requesting party's contact information to the lineage society applicant when such contact is desired by the requesting party.  This policy places the decision to communicate with the requesting party solely with the lineage society applicant.
 
The Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (MCC-OGS) will redact any application forms to exclude any person shown as living on the application.  Any supporting documents containing information of a person shown as living on the application will not be released to a requesting party.  Source citations will be provided in their place. 
 
For Lineage Society Applications submitted 40+ years prior to an information request:
 
If the applicant is a current member of the Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (MCC-OGS), the policies governing the release of information from lineage society applications and supporting documents submitted less than 40 years prior to the request still apply.
 
If the applicant is no longer a current member of the Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (MCC-OGS), the application and supporting documents may be shared in its entirety.
