Genealogy Swap Meet (Special Event)

The Montgomery County Chapter OGS in conjunction with the Dayton Metro Library will be holding a “Genealogy Swap Meet” on June 28th. This includes donations to the society and the library that are not needed for the library’s collections. See the attached flyer for details. Death Records for Genealogy by Sue Mueller (Monthly Meeting)

Death records can be a valuable resource for genealogy research, providing details about a person's life that may not be found in any other record. Sue Mueller will talk about what death records are in the public domain and where to find them. Locating and using death indices, certificates, and obituaries, in addition to cemeteries and funeral homes, with an emphasis on free online resources, will be the focus of Sue’s discussion.

DNA can be confusing, but there are lots of great resources available to help. DNA Painter is an award-winning website that can help demystify your DNA results. Our speaker, Kelli Bergheimer, will explain DNA Painter and how it can be useful in evaluating your DNA.
